The ham from Luxeuil
Made of pork from Franche-Comté, the ham from Luxeuil is produced just in the Luxeuil area (22 villages).
The ham from Luxeuil weighs, at least, 8,5kg and it is protected by a regional label since 1983. The leg soaks into red wine from Jura. Then it is rubbed with salt and spices and put in a fresh place, for one month. After it is brushed, washed, and then steamed. All in all, it needs 9 months to make the ham from Luxeuil.
